Worksop Station Enhancements

Client

Northern Rail Ltd

Location

Worksop

Project Value

£380k

Project duration

12 weeks

Summary

Worksop Railway Station booking hall and waiting room were dilapidated and damp throughout and we were tasked with the refurbishment and rejuvenation of the space to create a brand new booking hall and staff ticket office space for both passengers and the station staff. This project was hugely successful and we were also asked to create a second, smaller waiting room on the opposite platform.

Overall, we improved and increased the seating capacity at the station and have provided a much more comfortable working and waiting area for staff and passengers alike.

The works carried out by our specialist teams included:

  • Demolition of brick partition wall and installation of structural steel to open up the space as one continuous space.
  • Damp proofing, re-plastered, skimmed and re-decorated.
  • Installation of new automatic doors with overhead sensors and pocket screens.
  • Creation of a new wider ramp to allow easier access for disabled passengers.
  • Installation of stainless steel wall cladding throughout.
  • Installation of new DDA compliant bench seating throughout the booking hall and ticket sales area.
  • Installation of a new suspended ceiling with new L.E.D light fittings and Frenger radiant heating panels.
  • Installation of a new DDA compliant counter front to the ticket counter on the passenger side of the ticket sales area.
  • Installation of new floor tiles throughout both areas with barrier matting installed to both entrances into the booking hall area.
  • Installation of stainless steel balustrade/handrail with glass infill panels to the edge of the raised ticket sales area and ramp.
  • Installation of additional radiators to opening reveals and under both windows within ticket sales area.
  • Installation of a new Customer Information Screens (CIS) and Long Line Public Announcement system to the station.
