South Western Rail (SWR) sought to improve passenger experience across its network by installing waiting shelters at 42 stations. The project aimed to provide partial enclosure and bench seating within the shelters, offering commuters respite from adverse weather conditions.
New CCTV and customer information screens held the potential to significantly enhance customer safety and satisfaction along the network.
The project, required careful planning and execution. Our team undertook a comprehensive Design & Build service, managing all aspects including obtaining necessary consents through the Network Rail design portal.
The installation took place within live site environments, necessitating careful coordination to minimise disruptions to ongoing operations. Each shelter was anchored using reinforced concrete bases, with buried service ducts to accommodate lighting and data requirements.
The project encompassed the installation of various shelter designs tailored to the specific needs of each station. Each design was meticulously developed and installed to optimise space utilisation and passenger comfort while adhering to the aesthetic and functional requirements of SWR.
