Glossop Railway Station, a heritage station serving the picturesque town of Glossop in the Peak District, required a significant renovation to transform its old storage areas back into functional waiting rooms. The project aimed to create a modern and accessible facilities for both staff and disabled customers. At the same time, it focused on preserving the station’s historical charm.
The renovation included the installation of safety flooring to ensure durability and compliance with safety standards, and the careful restoration of the station’s brickwork to maintain its historical aesthetic. They set up modern kitchen facilities for staff use and fitted new sliding sash windows. Induction loops were installed to assist hearing-impaired customers, and the renovated areas were painted and decorated to create a welcoming atmosphere. Finally, they installed suspended ceilings to improve acoustics and aesthetic appeal.
The transformation and quality of work were recognised when the station won an award presented by the mayor.
