The University of Liverpool, a member of the prestigious Russell Group, boasts global recognition for its excellence in teaching and research.
The project primarily aimed to facilitate the installation of a new gas-fired air handling unit (AHU) for the Department of Chemistry housed within the Robert Robinson building.
This project required meticulous planning and execution due to the complexities involved in lifting structural steel components and AHU sections onto the building’s roof.
Recognising the importance of the crane lift operation, the team prioritised safety measures and adherence to regulations throughout the process.
A robust structural steel frame was constructed to support the AHU and aid its positioning on the roof. Additionally, steel walkways and handrails were installed to ensure safe access and maintenance.
New ventilation systems were meticulously fitted from the AHU to serve various internal areas within the Robert Robinson building. This involved precise ductwork installation and integration with existing infrastructure to optimise airflow and functionality.
A specialised team undertook the installation of the gas-fired AHU along with associated pipework, ductwork, and controls.
In summary, the collaborative efforts of the project team, coupled with meticulous planning and execution, enabled the successful completion of the crane lift operation and installation of the air handling unit at the University of Liverpool.
