Home » Automatic Ticket Gate & Station Enhancements for SWR
Our Automatic Ticket Gate and Station Enhancement Project for South Western Railway (SWR) was undertaken in two phases. The project aimed to enhance pedestrian flow through stations, addressing safety concerns and revenue protection.
Valued at £2.7 million and spanning 20 months, it represented a significant endeavour for both the client and our team. SWR identified thirteen priority stations based on high footfall and pedestrian modelling for the implementation of new automated ticket gate lines.
A significant challenge for both the design and construction team was integrating gate line technology and infrastructure into the diverse parameters of existing stations. Some stations held Listed Building Status, requiring careful consideration of historical context. Consideration of material selection, construction methods, and aesthetic appearance ensured harmony with heritage assets.
Bespoke architecturally glazed stainless steel gateline structures were designed and constructed to optimise station footprint, enhance passenger flow and create a safe and welcoming environment for customers.
Our Automatic Ticket Gate and Station Enhancement Project for South Western Trains successfully tackled the challenge of integrating gate line technology into diverse station parameters.
The enhanced passenger flow and modernised ticketing systems contributed to improved customer satisfaction and overall experience. Additionally, by addressing safety concerns and optimising revenue protection measures, the project helped to instil a greater sense of confidence among passengers and stakeholders in the reliability and efficiency of South West Rail’s services.
These additional details provide a deeper understanding of the project’s approach and outcomes, highlighting the meticulous planning and comprehensive approach taken to achieve success.
The project stands as a testament to our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet both client needs and heritage considerations.
