Eastfield Railway Depot, situated in Springburn, Glasgow, has served as a vital maintenance hub since its establishment in 1904. With a £14 million investment by the Scottish Executive, a modern 1300 sq. m shed, associated track, signalling systems, and elevated cleaning platforms were constructed. The depot reopened in 2004 and underwent further extension in 2017-18 to accommodate new electric trains.
Our project, valued at £2.2 million and spanning 44 weeks, focused on enhancing the depot’s infrastructure to support increased services between the Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh commuter routes. so that trains can be refuelled, cleaned and maintained effectively.
Our approach involved meticulous planning and execution of essential systems to ensure seamless operations at Eastfield Railway Depot. From power distribution and platform lighting to security systems and water services, each aspect was carefully installed and integrated to meet ScotRail’s operational requirements and safety standards.
