Dating back to 1904, Eastfield Railway Depot is one of the largest depots in Scotland and plays a pivotal role in ensuring trains running between the Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh commuter routes can be refuelled, cleaned, and maintained effectively. Due to increasing services on this route, the Scottish Executive proposed £14m investment to provide ScotRail with a new Maintenance facility comprising a new 1300-sq. m shed and associated track and signalling as well as elevated cleaning platforms.
