West Midlands Travel Shop

Client

National Express

Location

Birmingham

Project Value

£120k

Project duration

7 weeks

Project overview

National Express, a leading transportation provider, engaged our services for a significant upgrade of their travel shop located in Birmingham. With a project value of £120,000 and a duration of seven weeks, the primary objective was to create a larger, more centrally located, and higher specification flagship store. The vision was to transform the travel shop into a modern, efficient, and customer-friendly space that would enhance the overall experience for both staff and customers.

Approach

To achieve the desired transformation, we adopted a comprehensive approach, starting with a complete strip-out of the existing premises, covering both the front and back of house areas. This was crucial to allow the subsequent redesign and refurbishment processes.

A new ground floor layout was meticulously planned to incorporate an expanded sales area and office space. The sales area was designed to feature staffed desks alongside a swift desk, enabling customers to update their travel cards electronically via tablets and a card payment system.

The electrical systems of the entire premises were completely re-wired. This included the installation of new distribution boards and data system. These upgrades were essential to support the six LED monitors installed in the sales area, which were designated to provide real-time customer information.

Scope of works

  • Complete Strip Out
  • New sales area
  • New office layout
  • Fit-out
  • Installation of 4 staffed desks
  • Complete re-wiring
  • Installation of new distribution boards
  • New data system installation
  • LED monitors for sales area

Outcome

The transformed flagship store now boasts a more spacious and centrally located layout, significantly enhancing its accessibility and visibility.

The complete re-wiring and installation of new electrical and data systems have not only modernised the store but have also laid the groundwork for future technological advancements.

The new flagship store stands as a testament to National Express’s commitment to innovation and customer service excellence. In conclusion, the project was a resounding success, delivering a high-specification travel shop that meets the current and future needs of National Express and its customers.
