We are ISO 45001 Certified!
We are extremely proud to announce that we have now been awarded the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Accreditation! Here at Consortia; health, safety and wellbeing are firmly ingrained into our philosophy. We have always worked to the standards set out in ISO 45001 and are therefore especially proud to have achieved certification.
What is ISO 45001:2018?
To encourage safe and healthy workplaces, the International Organisation for Standardisation establishes a framework that specifies requirements which organisations can meet to proactively improve their H&S performance and prevent work-related injury and ill health. It is awarded to organisations that are serious about improving employee safety, reducing workplace risks and creating better, safer working conditions.
Becoming advocates of change
According to data published within the Construction Playbook, construction remains a hazardous industry, accounting for almost 30% of fatal injuries to people in the workplace. We must work together as an industry to combat these statistics, and achieving the ISO 45001 serves as proof that we are off to a good start. This standard has been incorporated into our company to provide a sustainable, safe and healthy work environment for all employees, prevent occupational diseases and accidents, reduce risks by identifying them, and ensure continuous improvement with proactive measures.
What does this look like in practice?
Key to the day-to-day achievement of embedding our safety culture are the elements we believe are essential in achieving a safe working environment: early identification, evaluation and proactive response. The evolution of these is critical to our success and has enabled us to maintain a statistic of zero RIDDOR incidents. Our Social Value Manager, Paula Cornes, has also recently qualified as a Mental Health First Aider to ensure that all Consortia staff have a point of contact if they feel they need someone to talk to. An important part of maintaining these standards is working as a team – so we always ensure we work closely with both our clients and supply chain partners to identify, prevent and manage occupational health risks throughout our project and framework lifecycles.
This is a fantastic achievement and we would like to thank all our staff for their outstanding efforts in achieving these standards and maintaining them each and every day.
