Just before Christmas, while working on the new ticket office at Berwick Train Station for LNER, we had the privilege of supporting the incredible team at Berwickshire Group Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).
With the help of five wonderful horses and 40 dedicated volunteers, the Berwickshire Group RDA has been providing life-enhancing riding experiences to people of all ages and abilities since 1982. Their indoor riding arena at Sunnyside in Reston, opened in 2002 by the Princess Royal, allows them to run sessions all year round.
As a charity that receives no statutory funding, Berwickshire RDA relies entirely on fundraising and donations to maintain their horses, buildings, and equipment. Knowing this, we were delighted to step in and help where we could.
Joe and Matty from our team spent the day at their site, rolling up their sleeves to clean and prepare all the equipment for winter storage. It was a productive day, and the feedback we received was heartwarming – the owner was so pleased with their efforts that she’s already asked if we can come back next year!
For us at The Consortia Group, this was more than just a day of volunteering; it was a chance to give back to an organisation that makes such a positive impact in the community. Supporting initiatives like this is something we are passionate about, and we look forward to finding more opportunities to make a difference wherever we can.
We’d like to thank the team at Berwickshire RDA for making us feel so welcome and for allowing us to contribute to the amazing work they do.
