After being selected as part of the L8 Living Sustainably Project, what was once a derelict piece of land has become a great, green communal space known as Fern Grove Community Garden. This initiative encourages members of the community to grow food locally and educates them on the impacts of the current climate crisis.
Over the past two years, this green space has continued to flourish and more and more people have decided to become a part of it. The garden is at the heart of the L8 community, whose members come along and enjoy it regularly – not just to grow vegetables but also to partake in other agricultural activities such as beekeeping.
Over the past few months, we have been working on our own project to help Fern Grove Community Garden flourish – a garden pod designed by our very own Brian Jones.
When the pod was finished and in place, we held a small celebratory opening to thank those involved for their help. We hope this new garden pod will be a great place for members of the local community to sit and have a chat over a cup of tea.
Sarah McCulloch told her LinkedIn followers: “I want to say Thank you to Consortia Integrated Services for donating materials and labour to build this wonderful new structure at Fern Grove Community Garden. The kids and adults love it and it is a great addition to the garden.”
